Diocesan Safeguarding Sunday 2025
Diocesan Safeguarding Sunday
This Sunday 28th September is Diocesan Safeguarding Sunday. It is a day when we reflect on the importance of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults in our parishes and communities. The theme for this year is ‘working to make our society safer for children and young people.’ You may read Archbishop Dermot Farrell’s letter for this Safeguarding Sunday here
Feast of St Pius of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio) 23rd September
Healing Prayer of St Pius of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio)
Feast Day 23rd September

Heavenly Father, I thank you for loving me.
I thank you for sending your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ,
to the world to save and to set me free.
I trust in your power and grace that sustain and restore me.
Loving Father, touch me now with your healing hands,
for I believe that your will is for me to be well in mind, body, soul and spirit.
Cover me with the most precious blood of your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ
from the top of my head to the soles of my feet.
Cast anything that should not be in me.
Root out any unhealthy and abnormal cells.
Open any blocked arteries or veins and rebuild and replenish any damaged areas.
Remove all inflammation and cleanse any infection
by the power of Jesus’ precious blood.
Let the fire of your healing love pass through my entire body
to heal and make new any diseased areas so that my body
will function the way you created it to function.
Touch also my mind and my emotion, even the deepest recesses of my heart.
Saturate my entire being with your presence, love, joy, and
peace and draw me ever closer to you every moment of my life.
And Father, fill me with your Holy Spirit and empower me to
do your works so that my life will bring glory and honour to your holy name.
I ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Crosscare Annual Appeal 2025

Annual Appeal 2025
This weekend, Crosscare is asking for our generous support for their annual appeal as growing instability in our world continues to impact the people in our communities who are marginalised and need our support. The collection takes place on Saturday 20th/Sunday 21st September in place of the usual Share collection.
Parishioners who may not be able to contribute on these dates can support this appeal online at www.crosscare.ie
Thank you most sincerely for your continued support of Crosscare.

New Seasons – September 2025
September has some of the hallmarks of a new year for many of us. As Autumn begins, many other elements of life begin again after a break for summer – school, college, clubs, societies. Our church family also goes back into full flight with the return of choirs, prayer and pastoral initiatives as well as the ongoing work of animating our parish communities through our pastoral council and finance teams.
We continue the Jubilee Year 2025 as ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ as well as engaging with the wider ‘Synodal process’ in our church. The canonisation of Carlo Acutis, the modern saint of young people takes place this weekend, Sunday 7th September. We hope to develop a ‘Carlo Acutis’ Shrine in one of our churches in the coming months after an art competition in our local secondary schools.
As we continue to develop our friendship with surrounding parishes (partnership) we hope to begin a young adult (faith and friendship) group in the partnership in the near future, to encourage and support our young people in their journey with God.
Among the many demands and choices coming at each of us at this time of year, lets choose gratitude for all the many gifts in our lives and make at least ONE active choice in pursuit of the development of our spiritual and parish life.
May we all continue to be blessed in faith, hope and love in the season ahead.
