What is the Sacrament of Eucharist?
‘Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had said the blessing, he broke it, and giving it to his disciples he said, “Take it and eat, this is my body.”
Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he handed it to them, saying, “Drink from this, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” (Matthew 26:26-28)
What is the Sacrament of Eucharist? The Sacrament Christian Initiation are Baptism, Reconciliation and Eucharist.
The Eucharist therefore completes Christian Initiation.
The Centrality of Sunday:
Sunday celebrations of Eucharist (Mass) in St Pius X Parish are celebrated on Saturday evening at 7pm and on Sunday at 11.30am.
Weekday Eucharist (Mass) is celebrated on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 10am and on the First Friday of each month at 7pm. Holy Day celebrations are posted closer to the celebration.
Mass in our sister Parish of St Jude’s Willington is celebrated on Saturday evening at 5.30pm, on Sunday Morning at 10am, and on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10am.
Celebrating First Holy Communion
First Holy Communion is a Parish Celebration, involving home, school and parish working together. In September a meeting of parents is held, to pray and reflect on your decision to present your child for Holy Communion, to pray and reflect on the preparations ahead, and pray and reflect of being parishioners. You will be asked to register with the Parish, your child who has celebrated Catholic Baptism.
Each year, we begin the period of preparation for children’s First Confession and Holy Communion with a special Enrolment Ceremony.
All families are asked to bring their child to Sunday Mass, and each month we have a special preparation Family Mass. Dates and times will be advised through the website, newsletter and schools.

Our Holy Communion celebration takes place during Sunday Mass in April or May each year, family, school parish coming together.
On-line Enrolment for First Holy Communion 2026
Parents / guardians of 2nd class children are invited to enrol their children for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion, to be celebrated in May next year. The online enrolment can be completed by clicking this link click here

We would kindly ask parents / guardians to complete the enrolment by Friday 12th December 2025. This will enable the parish to keep parents informed about any developments in the preparation for the Sacraments. Our Family Mass on the second Saturday of each month is a central element of your child’s preparation for the Sacrament and therefore can we ask you to please make the effort to attend each month.
Note: You will also need to drop a copy of your child’s Catholic Baptism Cert into the school once you have completed the online enrolment. Certs are available from the church where your child was baptised.
