Visit to Knock Shrine by our senior choir and singing at Mass in the Basilica
on the Feast of the Sacred Heart 12th June 2026
On Friday 12th June, the Feast of the Sacred Heart, the senior choir, under the direction of Evelyn Hearns, travelled to Knock Shrine to sing at Mass in the Basilica. We received a warm welcome from the team there and from Fr Norman who celebrated the Mass. It was such a privilege for us all to sing in the Basilica and as always Evelyn had organised every detail to perfection and chosen beautiful pieces for us which enhanced and enriched the liturgy for the feast day. Everyone really enjoyed the experience, and all agreed it was a lovely way to start our summer break. We are very grateful to Evelyn for arranging the trip and for leading us so expertly and so very kindly throughout the year. We also extend our thanks to Fr Pat, Fr Gerry and the parish for our lovely dinner on the way home which was very much appreciated.
By a lovely coincidence the Readings and prayers of the faithful were read by pupils from St Pius X college in Magherafelt, Co. Derry who were visiting the shrine with their class.
After Mass, we had time to visit the museum and the exhibition of beautiful artwork by our fellow chorister and parishioner, Sheelagh Duff, which is on display. With her wonderful eye for colour and detail, Sheelagh has created hand stitched embroideries as borders for several well-known images of Our Lady and generously donated her work to the shrine. Lori
